Senate Committee Priority Form
COMMITTEE NAME: Intercollegiate Athletics
CHAIR: John Regan
VICE CHAIR: Richard Duschl
A. HIGH PRIORITY
A1) In collaboration with the Undergraduate Education Committee, draft an informational “Time Management” report that could form the basis of an online guide to time management for undergraduate students. The report would build upon similar time-management materials provided to and under development for students involved in intercollegiate athletics.
A2) Jointly with CC&R, consider revisions to the standing rules that reorganize the IA Committee giving faculty a more informed and independent voice in athletic affairs. The revisions could include a three-year term for committee members, the addition of non-Senate faculty experts, among other reforms. [IAC will take the lead in drafting reforms consistent with CC&R’s prior recommendation.]
B1) Consider drafting an informational or advisory/consultative report concerning whether the University Faculty Senate should continue its affiliation with the Coalition on Intercollegiate Athletics (COIA). If the committee concludes that the University Faculty Senate should continue its participation with COIA, in consultation with CC&R, draft standing rules which creates a formal selection process for a COIA committee and a COIA faculty senate representative.
C. MANDATED AND TRADITIONAL REPORTS
