88-00 Distinction and Honors

88-30 Graduation with Distinction

Distinction at graduation shall be awarded to those baccalaureate degree candidates of the graduating class according to the following rule. The top 12 percent of the baccalaureate degree candidates from any college shall be eligible to graduate with distinction if they have achieved at least a grade-point average of 3.50, based on at least 60 credits at the University. The 12 percent should be divided into 2 percent Summa cum Laude, 4 percent Magna cum Laude, and 6 percent Cum Laude.

The top 12 percent of the associate degree candidates from any college shall be eligible to graduate with distinction if they have achieved at least a grade-point average of 3.50, based on at least 30 credits at the University. The 12 percent should be divided into 2 percent Summa cum Laude, 4 percent Magna cum Laude, and 6 percent Cum Laude.

88-70 Graduation with Honors

Those members of the graduating class who have fulfilled the requirements listed under The Schreyer Honors College (Section 65-00) shall have the fact of the completion of an honors program inscribed on their diplomas (not applicable at Penn State Capital College).
